CoQ-10, synthesized by the body, is a fat-soluble compound (chemical), which is necessary for the proper functioning and chemical reactions of many organs in the body. The enzyme mechanism used for CoQ-10 electron transport chains is the major sub-component of complexes I, II and III, respectively. It changes the location of electrons from complex I (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide dehydrogenase) and complex II (succinate dehydrogenase) to complex III (ubiquinone-cytochrome c reductase). In this way it serves a very specific role in cellular energy production.
